❯❯ Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Projects

We’re here to build a community.Yugioh has been bringing people together for decades, inspiring artists, writers, duelists, cosplayers, collectors, and creators of every kind. Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Projects exists to take that passion and turn it into something we can all share. We’re a community-driven creative project dedicated to making the kinds of things we’ve always wanted to see in the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom. Local events, zines, games, collaborative projects, meetups, and ideas that haven’t even been dreamed up yet. If it can bring fans together and give us an excuse to celebrate the series we love, we want to make it happen. And you don’t have to just watch from the sidelines! This is a place for fans to participate, create, collaborate, and help shape what comes next. Whether you’re an artist with an idea, a writer who wants to contribute, or simply someone who wants to show up and have a great time, there’s a place for you here. Every event, publication, game, and collaboration is another opportunity to bring more of the community together, and we want to see just how far we can take it✨

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is a published mini-magazine that is produced in limited quantities, typically centered around a particular interest, niche, or pop culture content. Zines can be free, sold for charity, or sold for profit amongst the team.
This project is a for-charity fanzine, meaning all profits will go into a meaningful cause.
Which charity will you be donating to?
We're still researching and taking suggestions on which charity the proceeds will go to.
Who can apply for this Project?
Applications are open to everyone, regardless of any previous zine experience. However, all applicants must be at least 16.
Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, but you can only be accepted for one position.
How do you define "culture" in this case?
For Hearts of the People, culture refers to the traditions, customs, history, clothing, food, celebrations, art, language, and other characteristics associated with a particular cultural group or community. This can include cultures from around the world, as well as regional, Indigenous, diasporic, and other distinct cultural communities.
Think of the Miku trend where she was reimagined into multiple cultures. That's what we're trying to make here.
I'm mixed of two or more culture, can i represent all of them?
When applying, you'll be asked which cultures you're a part of that you're comfortable representing, but you'll be asked to contribute into only one of them.
Stance on white/black/brown washing?
Hearts of the People allows contributors to reinterpret a character’s race and skin tone as part of their cultural representation.
We distinguish between respectful cultural reinterpretation and whitewashing.
Changes to a character’s appearance should be made as part of the overall cultural interpretation of the piece and should be approached respectfully, without caricature, mockery, or racial stereotypes.
making a dark-skinned character lighter = not allowed
making a light-skinned character darker = allowed

Whitewashing is historically always harmful, while other races darken the skin of their favorite characters only as a form of connection, relatability and representation, which is what we're trying to achieve here.
Does that mean white cultures aren't accepted?
They absolutely are. There are only a handful of dark-skinned characters in the Yugioh roaster, all we ask is not to erase them by making them white or lighter.
Are ships allowed in this zine?
No explicit romantic relationships will be allowed.
Compensation?
As compensation for assisting us with this charity project, ALL contributors will be given a free digital zine bundle!
If the project does really well and our budget allows, contributors may also receive a full physical bundle of the zine.
Shipping may or may not be included; this will be determined closer to the end of production stage.
Do you ship world wide?
We ship to most countries unless it's a war zone. More accurate details will be released when preorders open.

Head Mod | Production and shipping

I’ve been a Yugioh fan since childhood, and it’s actually the reason I started drawing in the first place. I’ve always been really attached to the franchise, and it continues to be a huge source of inspiration for me and my love of creating. ♡
I’m also the person behind YGO Fan Projects! I started the page because I wanted to create a welcoming space where fans could come together, support each other, and find fun ways to participate in the fandom.
